Since avoiding errors in the first place is more beneficial and less time consuming than correcting them, Dr. May Mansour presented a workshop to teachers of English. The workshop started by differentiating between errors and mistakes. Since mistakes can be corrected by learners themselves because they are aware of the rules, they are not to be considered a troublesome issue, but if learners are unaware of some rules and fail to fix certain structures, measures need to be taken to ensure that such errors do not occur in the first place. Teachers' attention was drawn to the necessity of introducing some patterns at an early age, especially those patterns that lead to some common errors among learners such as subject verb agreement, count and non-count nouns, and noun clauses used as object. Teachers were reminded of the importance of using extensive oral drills and introducing such patterns at an early age.
